There’s not many things that are better than a pastry and cup of coffee! Check out this super easy and fruity breakfast recipe…Easy Cherry Danish! Beautiful flaky puff pastry filled with cream cheese and cherry pie filling. Delicious!
Tips and Variations For This Recipe
- Be sure to poke the center of each pastry square with a fork. This is essential in letting the outsides puff up and hold the filling in.
- Switch out the cherry pie filling for whatever flavor you like! Blueberry, raspberry, and apple would all be delicious! Think about a pastry with apple filling and a little drizzle of caramel over the top of it 🤯😋
- These freeze well! Make a double batch and keep them in the freezer until you’re ready to eat them. Just put them in a freezer ziplock bag and let them defrost in the refrigerator, then store at room temperature.
What You Will Need
- 1 sheet pre-packaged puff pastry dough
- 4oz. cream cheese spread
- 1 Tbsp. granulated sugar
- ½ tsp. almond extract
- 1 can cherry pie filling
- powdered sugar, for dusting
How To Make Easy Cherry Danish
- Preheat oven to 425℉ or whatever the package of puff pastry dough instructs. Lightly grease a cookie sheet or line with a silicone baking mat. Set aside. In a small bowl, mix together the cream cheese, sugar, and almond extract until smooth.

- Roll out the puff pastry dough and cut into 9 equally sized squares. Transfer each square to the prepared baking sheet, leaving at least half an inch of space in between each one.

- In the center of each dough square, poke with a fork 8-9 times, leaving half an inch of space around the perimeter of the square. This allows the edges of the pastry to rise and not the center, keeping the filling inside the pastry.

- Spread 1 Tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each pastry, then spread 2-3 Tablespoons of the pie filling on top of the cream cheese.

- Bake for 10-11 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown. Once done, transfer to a rack to cool, and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Store in an air tight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
