This is The BEST Classic Chili! Perfect for cool fall days, filled with ground beef, beans, tomatoes, and a homemade blend of chili seasonings. In true Midwest fashion, I suggest serving this delicious chili with cinnamon rolls!
Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1 yellow onion, diced
- 1lb. ground beef
- 1½ Tbsp. chili powder
- 2 Tbsp. ground cumin
- 3 Tbsp. granulated sugar
- 2 Tbsp. tomato paste
- 1 Tbsp. garlic powder
- 1½ tsp. salt
- ½ tsp. pepper
- 2 C. beef broth
- 1 15oz. can petite diced tomatoes
- 1 40oz. can chili beans
- 29oz. can tomato sauce
Directions
- In a large stockpot over medium-low heat, melt 1 Tbsp. of butter, then add the diced onion and cook until fragrant and slightly translucent, approximately 3-4 minutes. Add in the ground beef and cook through. Drain grease.

- Add in chili powder, cumin, sugar, tomato paste, garlic powder, and salt and pepper and stir until combined.


- Stir in beef broth, chili beans, and tomato sauce. Simmer on low heat, stirring occasionally, for 20-25 minutes. Top with sour cream, shredded cheese, or your other favorite chili toppings and enjoy!
