These classic snickerdoodle cookies are soft-baked, chewy, and covered in cinnamon-sugar! 😋 A delicious addition to your Christmas baking or perfect for any time!
Ingredients
- 1 C. shortening
- 1½ C. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2¾ C. all purpose flour
- 2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- ½ tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
Directions
- Preheat oven to 400℉. In the bowl of a stand mixer, cream together shortening, sugar, and eggs until light and fluffy.
- Add in the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt and mix until well combined, making sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl.
- In a small bowl, stir together 2 Tbsp. sugar and 2 tsp. cinnamon. Roll the cookie dough into 1-inch balls and roll in the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet at least 2 inches apart and bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. The snickerdoodles will puff up at first and then flatten out with crinkled tops. This recipe yields approximately 3½ dozen Classic Snickerdoodle Cookies.
