Classic Snickerdoodle Cookies!

These classic snickerdoodle cookies are soft-baked, chewy, and covered in cinnamon-sugar! 😋 A delicious addition to your Christmas baking or perfect for any time!

Ingredients

  • 1 C. shortening
  • 1½ C. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2¾ C. all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tsp. ground cinnamon

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400℉. In the bowl of a stand mixer, cream together shortening, sugar, and eggs until light and fluffy.
  2. Add in the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt and mix until well combined, making sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl.
  3. In a small bowl, stir together 2 Tbsp. sugar and 2 tsp. cinnamon. Roll the cookie dough into 1-inch balls and roll in the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet at least 2 inches apart and bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. The snickerdoodles will puff up at first and then flatten out with crinkled tops. This recipe yields approximately 3½ dozen Classic Snickerdoodle Cookies.
